Rick Basson

Rick is the Managing Director of M&A Services at Lancia Consult. He brings a rounded perspective to corporate strategy and the M&A process, shaped by his experience as a CEO, private equity fund manager, and corporate finance professional.  

Before joining Lancia Consult, Rick was the CEO of Rubicon Group, where he grew the business into a leading brand in South Africa's renewable energy sector, driving significant expansion and innovation. Earlier in his career, Rick managed a successful private equity fund, leading investments in mid-market companies to help them achieve their next phase of growth. His career began in London, where he specialised in M&A and corporate finance.  

Rick's approach is defined by his ability to identify growth opportunities and guide companies through strategic transitions. His breadth of experience, from corporate finance to executive leadership, allows him to bring insights to every aspect of the M&A process.  

Outside of work, Rick enjoys padel and running while still finding time to watch every sport imaginable. Based in Cape Town, he loves trying to keep up with his uber-creative wife and two kids (though the three rescue dogs are more of a tolerated obligation).
