Meet our new Graduate Consultants
Our 2023 new consultant cohort tell all about 'Landing At Lancia.'
At the start of September, our business got even bigger and better! We were joined by nine new starters, embarking on their journey to become new consultants.
Over the coming weeks, to coincide with Graduate Recruitment Fair season here in the UK, we'll be shining a spotlight on each of our newest recruits so you can find out more about them and what they are making of our unique introduction to life as a consultant, aptly named 'Landing at Lancia,' or LAL.
This week, meet Scarlett Harrison, Jess Nesbitt, and Andrew Ritchie.
Say hi to;
Scarlett Harrison - joining our Bristol team.
Q: What Uni did you go to? And what did you study?
A: University of Bristol, studying Politics and International Relations.
Q: Where are you from?
A: South London
Q: What do you love about living in Bristol?
A: I love how interesting and diverse Bristol is - it really has everything! Also, and importantly, I love the music scene!
Q: Tell us a fun fact about you.
A: I lived in Dubai for seven years.
Q: Why did you choose consulting?
A: I love the variety of work and the ability to work alongside various new and interesting people every day. LanciaConsult also has a significant presence in the social impact and charity world, which drew me to them as a company.
Q: What were your first 2 weeks of life at LanciaConsult like?
A: On entering LanciaConsult, I began two weeks of training, appropriately labelled 'Landing at Lancia,' or LAL for shorthand. My first two weeks at Lancia were the perfect start to my career in the Consulting industry. The team at Lancia curated the LAL weeks to be incredibly supportive and welcoming – LAL even involved a trip abroad to ensure we had met all the team face to face before beginning our roles.
The training weeks brought us up to date with the working systems within consulting and taught us about Lancia as a company, its ethos, and culture. We were led through workshops on a myriad of exciting topics, which equipped us to tackle our first client-facing projects. Particularly, the Change Management workshop was fascinating and eye-opening, as it answered a lot of questions I had about the change-oriented side of consulting. We were also led through workshops on the various digital systems Lancia uses in their day-to-day work.
To ensure we were welcomed and could get to know the whole team, LAL also incorporates a number of socials that take place in the evenings after work. This was a lovely touch, as it made us realise how much Lancia cares about us forming friendly relations with our team rather than solely focusing on developing our working skills.
Q: Describe the LanciaConsult vibe in 3 words.
A: Fun, challenging, and encouraging.
Next up, meet Jess Nesbitt, who joins our team in Belfast.
Q: What Uni did you go to? And what did you study?
A: Queens University in Belfast and I studied PPE (Philosophy, Politics, and Economics).
Q: Where are you from?
A: Belfast
Q: What do you love about living in Belfast?
A: Going for walks in the Botanical Gardens.
Q: Tell us a fun fact about you.
A: I accidentally fell off a waterfall in Jamaica.
Q: Why did you choose consulting?
A: I wanted to work in a fast-paced environment that forced me to develop beyond what I felt comfortable in.
Q: What were your first 2 weeks of life at LanciaConsult like?
A: Starting a consulting career right out of university can be intimidating, and I certainly felt nervous about entering the working world. To be honest, I had no idea what to expect when I joined Lancia other than the fact that I would be working with clients and offering project management assistance. However, Lancia's unique culture, inclusive team, and efficient organizational structure have redefined my understanding of consulting and sparked a deep excitement for the months ahead – thanks to LAL!
LAL - the Landing at Lancia program - has exceeded my expectations in terms of providing an exceptional training scheme that equips us with the core skills required for a successful consulting career. Lancia's induction process has been very welcoming and accommodating, and I already feel like I've been a part of the team for a while! Spending two weeks alternating between the Bristol and Belfast offices has given me the opportunity to meet everyone on the Lancia team in person, which is super unique. One of the most notable takeaways from my first few weeks at Lancia is the incredible organisational culture – trust me, you will not find a working environment like you will at Lancia. From talking personally with each team member about their experience at Lancia to fun social nights out with the team, my first two weeks at LanciaConsult have been one for the books.
The training process at LAL has been beyond informative, focusing in-depth on various areas of Lancia's internal and external capabilities. On top of developing my core consulting skills, I have built upon my understanding of Lancia's internal ways of working, client projects, services offered by Lancia, and much more. Within two weeks, I have evolved from lacking much understanding of the industry to being ready, comfortable (and strangely eager) to be thrown in the deep end and get working!
If I had one piece of advice for anyone considering a career at Lancia - go for it! Taking the opportunity at Lancia will not be a regrettable decision, and I encourage anyone starting their career in consultancy to jump at the chance to join the LanciaConsult team. Lancia has exceeded all my expectations, and I bet it will exceed yours, too!
Q: Describe the LanciaConsult vibe in 3 words.
A: Embracing, energetic, and empowering.
And finally, meet Andrew Ritchie, another new joiner in our Belfast team.
Q: What Uni did you go to? And what did you study?
A: Queens University in Belfast, and I studied Economics with Finance.
Q: Where are you from?
A: Donaghadee (Yes, that is how it is spelt!)
Q: What do you love about living in Belfast?
A: The people, for sure (and, of course, the lovely weather 😉 )
Q: Tell us a fun fact about you.
A: I went to Moscow three times when I was 10-11 to meet, and eventually come home with, my baby sister, who was adopted from Russia at a young age.
Q: Why did you choose consulting?
A: The variety of work and the emphasis on communicating ideas appealed to me.
Q: What were your first 2 weeks of life at LanciaConsult like?
A: The first two weeks at LanciaConsult are just as fun and sociable as they are full-on and insightful. By the end of the two-week LAL training programme, I had become thoroughly familiar with all members of the team and had a great understanding of what it means to be a consultant and how I can make a successful career out of being one at Lancia
The culture at LanicaConsult is a breath of fresh air, with a noticeable care for its employees that can be noticeably lacking in other financial services firms. Lancia more than met my expectations, ensuring that by the end of the first two weeks of onboarding, I had become good friends with the rest of my intake of consultants. Lancia treated us to lunches, dinners, and some very fun socials.
A great feature of the LAL 2-week training programme is the opportunity to travel to two LanciaConsult offices, Belfast and Bristol. I had never been to Bristol before, and the chance to experience the city was incredible.
The 2-week LAL training programme gave me total exposure to the team and a great understanding of the different roles I will undertake as a consultant. So far, I couldn't recommend LanciaConsult more than enough for those interested in or curious about a career in consulting.
Q: Describe the LanciaConsult vibe in 3 words.
A: Informative, entertaining, different.
